Kate has served on the County Board since 2017. She grew up in Peoria and has lived in District 9 since 2003 with her husband, Jay and two daughters, Georgia and Amelia. Kate currently serves her community by singing with the Morton Civic Chorus which raises funds for CIMKF (Central Illinois Memorial Kidney Fund) and by volunteering for the Girl Scouts of Central Illinois. In 2017, she was awarded Troop Leader of the Year for her service. She served as a mentor for the Bradley STEM BEST Summer Internship Program for area high school students from 2008-2013.
Kate is self-employed as an Environmental Consultant. She manages environmental compliance requirements for air pollution, wastewater discharges, storm water run-off, soil contamination, spill clean-ups, hazardous waste management, and hazardous materials shipping. She conducts inspections, collects and analyzes data, prepares mandatory reports, conducts compliance training for workers, and audits ISO 14001 environmental management systems. Kate also manages environmental sustainability projects for energy reduction, water use reduction, recycling programs, and zero waste-to-landfill for clients.
Kate Pastucha is a graduate of Roosevelt Magnet School, Woodruff High School, and Illinois Central College. She received her undergraduate degrees in Cell and Molecular Biology and in Sociology from Bradley University. She received her graduate degree in Public Health – Environmental Health from the University of Illinois at Springfield. Kate is also a Certified Master Naturalist. She is a member of the Illinois Recycling Association and the National Association of Environmental Professionals.
