He began his career with Peoria County in July 2006 in the County Administration Department as a Budget Analyst. He was then moved to the Finance Department when it was created in 2008, where he served as Budget & Grants Coordinator and then Assistant Chief Financial Officer. In 2013, Randy was one of 50 government finance professionals selected from the United States and Canada to attend the Advanced Government Finance Institute (AGFI). The week-long intensive program provides selected GFOA members an opportunity to enhance their leadership skills and focus on emerging trends within the public finance community. Randy is a volunteer weather spotter with the County's Emergency Management Agency, and received an award from the Peoria County Association of Chiefs of Police in January 2016 for his service.

Today, Randy is responsible for the development and implementation of the Sheriff's Office's $15.7 million budget, inmate trust accounts, grants management, and other finance-related projects.
