Benjamin Sargent, 5 months |

2/12/08 - Sargent was the victim of a homicide after police responded to a call to his home at 3012 W. Proctor Street and found him deceased. An investigation into the death revealed 5 month old Benjamin died from starvation due to neglect after he sat strapped in a car seat inside the Proctor Street home for eight days without being cared for. Tracy Hermann, 21 and James Sargent, 23 are Benjamin's parents. Both have been charged with First Degree Murder. Peoria County Case 08-CF-200. |

Howard Scott, 18 |
|
3/12/08 - Scott was the victim of a fatal shooting. He was found lying in the yard of a home in the 1800 block of West Daytona Drive with a gunshot wound to his head. He was taken to an area hospital where he later died from his injury. Michael Howard, 18 was arrested for the shooting and is charged with Involuntary Manslaughter and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm. Howard was not charged with First Degree Murder as it was reported the shooting was an accident. He is currently incarcerated at the Peoria County Jail on a $50,000 bond. Mary Finnegan, 43 |
|
7/24/08 - Finnegan was the victim of a homicide after being strangled inside her home located in the 5500 block of Merrimac Drive in Peoria. Her body was discovered by her elder son 7/25/08. John W. Finnegan, 20, Mary Finnegan's younger son, was arrested days later and charged with First Degree Murder. John Finnegan admitted to police that he entered his mother's home while she slept, strangled her to death and sexually assaulted her body. John Finnegan is currently in the Peoria County Jail, bond set at 2.5 million dollars. Peoria County Case 08-CF-910. |

Jessica Wesson, 18 |
|
7/29/08 - Wesson was the victim of a homicide after her body was discovered behind Sterling Middle School. Wesson had been stabbed and strangled. Her body was discovered by a maintenance worker. 8/1/08 Ernest Coffey, 21, was arrested and charged with one count of First Degree Murder after a friend reported seeing Wesson with Coffey before her death. Teddy Jackson, 26 |
|
8/31/08 - Jackson was the victim of a homicide after being shot in the head outside The Rock Christian Entertainment Complex in the 800 block of SW Adams Street. Jackson was working security at the complex and was breaking up a fight when he was shot. He was pronounced dead at a local Peoria hospital. 9/9/08 Devear Lewis, 20 was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder for the shooting. He is awaiting court proceedings. Roosevelt Evans, 40 |
|
10/18/08 - Evans was the victim of a homicide after being stabbed to death by his cousin after an argument in the house they shared in the 1300 block of W. Butler Street. Evans' cousin, Erie Roberts, 47 was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder for the stabbing death. Erie Roberts is being held in the Peoria County Jail on a $2 million dollar bond; Peoria County Case 08-CF-1306. |
