2009 HOMICIDES

Mario McGee, 19

2/18/09 - McGee was the victim of a homicide after a home invasion and shooting. Police responded to a call to his home at 703 E. Corrington Avenue. There, McGee was found with a gunshot wound to his head. Police report that two men forced their way into the home and shot and killed McGee. McGee's mother was also inside the home but was not shot. No arrests have been made as a result of this homicide. The incident is still under investigation.

Lonnie Williams, 27

3/31/09 - Williams was the victim of a homicide after a shooting outside of a home in the 2100 block of Starr Street. Williams sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head. A second victim, John Thomas, was shot multiple times but he survived. Police arrested Tyrone T. Hopkins, 32. He is charged with First Degree Murder and Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon. Peoria County Case 09-CF-370. The case is set for a jury trial 6/15/09.

Joshua Hunter, 24

4/11/09 - Hunter was the victim of a homicide after he was fatally shot in the head in the 800 block of E. Ravine. He died several days later, 4/15/09. The shooting is under investigation. No arrests have been as a result of this homicide.

Anil Dhingra, 58

5/27/09 - Dhingra was the victim of a homicide after being shot to death after a robbery attempt at the Gas USA station located at 2506 N Prospect Road. Dhingra owned the establishment. Ali L. Evans, 20 and Deangelo M. Lindsey, 17 were arrested and charged with First Degree Murder for the shooting. Peoria County Case 09-CF-618.

Derrick Wade, 24

6/15/09 - Wade was the victim of a homicide after he was fatally stabbed in the back during a domestic fight in an apartment in the 3400 block of W Oakcrest Drive. Wade was beating his girlfriend when Kendrick Nellum, 30, attempted to break up the assault. Wade was stabbed after his attack continued. Nellum was arrested but later released. State's Attorney Kevin Lyons determined that Wade's stabbing was justifiable because Nellum was defending Wade's girlfriend as well as himself. Kendrick Nellum will not face charges.

Jonathan M. Pickett, 45

6/29/09 - Pickett was the victim of a homicide after being shot multiple times in the chest and back. Pickett was found lying in the street in the 700 block of South Greenlawn. He later died at a local hospital as a result of his injuries. No arrests have been made. The incident is still under investigation.

Kermit O. Moore, Jr, 21

7/19/09 - Moore was the victim of a homicide after being shot multiple times in the back in the 2800 block W Trewyn. He later died at a local hospital. No arrests have been made as a result of the shooting. The incident remains under investigation.

Eric D. Donelson, 32

7/31/09 - Donelson was the victim of a homicide. His body was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds in his home in the 1500 blk of W. Margaret Ave. No arrests have been made as a result of the shooting. The incident remains under investigation.

Clifford H. Harvey, Jr, 37

8/29/09 - Harvey was the victim of a homicide after his body was discovered fatally shot in the 900 block of S. Matthew Street. The incident remains under investigation.

Harvey Powell, Jr, 23

9/14/09 - Powell was the victim of a homicide. His body was discovered burning in the 3300 block of SW Washington Street. He had been shot to death. The incident is under investigation.
