Drug Prosecutions & Forfeitures

Kim Nuss (Appellate Prosecutor's Office)

Drug Forfeiture

Jeff V. Manderscheid

Assistant State's Attorney

Felony drug prosecutions are a specialized assignment in the State's Attorney's Office. These prosecutions usually involve dealers and users of illegal drugs.

The drug prosecutors also conduct forfeiture hearings in which the State seizes money and property gained by and used in furtherance of drug offenses.

Felony drug offenses are prosecuted in Courtrooms 221, Judge Michael E. Brandt presiding and 222, Judge James E. Shadid. Forfeiture hearings are held in Courtroom 323, Judge Jerelyn D. Maher presiding.

Peoria County also has a court intended to offer selected  substance abusers the opportunity of  rehabilitation through "drug court" approved treatment programs. Drug court is presently held once per week in Courtroom 323.
