CASE SYNOPSIS: Police report that sometime Thursday, July 24, 2008, John Finnegan entered his mother's home (Mary Finnegan) and strangled her as she lay sleeping on her bed. Mary Finnegan's body was discovered Friday, July 25th, by her elder son.
John Finnegan was later arrested Sunday, July 27 in Stark County. He admitted to police that he entered his mother's home, strangled her and sexually assaulted her body. He is currently in the Peoria County Jail, bond set at $2.5 million.
Schedule of Events:
9/11/09 - Finnegan is found guilty but mentally ill for the strangulation death of his mother. He was sentenced to 22 years in prison.
