CASE SYNOPSIS: On January 1, 2008, police were called to Funches' apartment in the 700 block of NE Adams on a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, police found Funches and Barbara Logan, both requiring medical attention. Funches had a cut on his hand and Logan was suffering from burns that were later reported to be over 14% of her body. Funches was arrested and charged with Heinous Battery and Aggravated Domestic Battery for setting Barbara Logan on fire. It was reported that during their fighting, Funches received a cut to his hand. Funches in turn poured an accelerant on Logan and lit her shirt on fire.
Funches is housed at the Peoria County Jail, bond set at $250,000. On January 22, 2007, a Peoria County Grand Jury indicted Luther Funches for Heinous battery and Aggravated Domestic Battery. Read the Grand Jury Indictment.
11/14/08 - Defendant plead guilty to Aggravated Domestic Battery 10/3/08. He was sentenced 11/14/08 to 7 years prison.
