CASE SYNOPSIS: Marshall is currently in the Peoria County Jail on a 1 million dollar bond for the June 20th murder of James Vaughn. Vaughn's body was discovered in the back yard of a home in the 100 block of N. Charlton Street after he had been fatally beaten with a log. Vaughn had been temporarily residing at the home with Marshall's parents.
Marshall had been visiting at his parents' home when the beating occurred. Reports indicate the two had been drinking before the incident and Marshall believed that Vaughn had a weapon. Read the Grand Jury Indictment.
In a court appearance 1/17/08, Marshall plead GUILTY to Murder. As part of the plea agreement Marshall can be sentenced to no more than 33 years in prison.
5/15/08 - Earl Marshall agreed to a blind-plea to First Degree Murder. Sentencing is scheduled for 6/23/08.
6/23/08 - Earl Marshall was sentenced to 33 years in prison.
