CASE SYNOPSIS: December 18, 2007, William Ransom was arrested and charged with Vehicular Hijacking, Robbery and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle after he punched a woman, while in the Northwood's Mall parking lot, and stole her vehicle. An off duty auxiliary officer attempted to stop Ransom and fired shots at the fleeing suspect. Ransom was able to flee the scene in the stolen vehicle but not before striking several parked vehicles.
The stolen vehicle was found abandoned after police tracked its location using the vehicle's satellite navigation system. Ransom was later apprehended and placed into custody. Bond is set at $500,000. Read the Peoria County Grand Jury Indictment.
